Clearwater is a city located in the state of Florida. It is located in Pinellas County, where it is the county seat. It is located near Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Clearwater is home to the worldwide headquarters for the Church of Scientology and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It is also the location of many historic sites, parks, and Spectrum Field, where the Philadelphia Phillies train. Clearwater’s last recorded population was 107,685 at the time of the last census in 2010. Recent estimates show that the population has climbed to 114,361 since the last census was taken. The city’s area is nearly 40 square miles, and it has a population density of over 4,419 people per square mile.

Breaking down the city’s population by race shows that over 83% of the population is white. Close to 10% of the population is black, 1.64% is Asian, 2.48% is another race, and 1.85% is multiracial. About 9% of the population is of Hispanic or Latino descent. Residents between the ages of 25 and 44 make up the largest age group in the city, accounting for 27.6% of the total population. About 19.1% of the population is under 18, while 21.5% are at least 65 years old. There are more women than men in Clearwater, with 91.8 males for every 100 females. About 12.3% of residents live below the federal poverty line. About 8.55% of the population speaks Spanish as their first language. While English is the primary language spoken, some residents also speak French, German, Italian and Greek. The city’s population has grown steadily since the beginning of the 20th century. Though a population decline of 1% was recorded between the 2000 and 2010 census, recent estimates show that numbers are up 6.2% since the last census, indicating that this city still has a way to grow.
