Ventura is a city located in the state of California. It is located in Ventura County, where it serves as the county seat. The official name for this city is City of San Buenaventura. It was originally founded as the Mission San Buenaventura in 1782 and wasn’t incorporated as a city until 1866.

Ventura Population and City Size

Ventura’s population at the time of the 2010 census was 106,433. Estimates show that the number has risen to 109,592 since that time. It is the fourth largest city in the county and just the 58th largest in the state by population.

The city has a total area of over 32 square miles and a population density of over 5,023 people per square mile.

Over 76% of Ventura’s population is white, while 1.6% is black, 1.2% is Native American, 3.4% is Asian, and 5.2% is multiracial. Almost 32% of residents are of Hispanic or Latino origin.
