EMEA is an acronym that stands for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. As the name suggests, the EMEA region of the world encapsulates all of the countries found on the continents of Africa and Europe, as well as the countries that make up the Middle East.

Complete and Updated List of Current EMEA Countries

As of 2019, there are one hundred sixteen countries in the EMEA. This acronym is used by governments, marketers, and business officials when referencing the EMEA part of the world. Since the continents are already formally part of the EMEA grouping, it is a shorthand way of referencing the three continents all at once. Many companies in North America frequently use this acronym to describe the region when talking about the area as a whole.

Across the entire region, over two thousand native languages are spoken by over one hundred separate countriesy. Taking every EMEA country into consideration, the total population size of the EMEA region comes to just about two billion people. The most populous country in the region is Nigeria, while Vatican City has the lowest population of all EMEA countries.

EMEA is used most often in situations involving international trade and business. It is less of a political term and more of geographical term. Sometimes, a nation outside of the EMEA, like the United States for example, might talk about Russia as being part of the EMEA. Another country, like Bolivia for example, might say the EMEA when they mean Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India. The point here is that the EMEA is not a completely set in stone term. While it most commonly refers to Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, it is not uncommon for other nations to slightly tweak the countries they include under the umbrella term.

Regions Considered to be Part of the EMEA Countries

The EMEA group consists of many other organizations that are based on geographic locations. There are a lot of groups that form between countries that share a unique cause, goal, or mindset about one subject or another. For example, EMEA formed as a way of distinguishing the part of the world that encompasses Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

Just as you have the Americas, and the Western World, the European, African, and Middle Eastern countries have the title of EMEA. But within the EMEA are a plethora of smaller groupings of countries are regions. None of these groups comprise the entire EMEA, but all of these groups are part of the EMEA.
