When it comes to GPS coordinates, there are always two points involved. The first point, called the latitude, refers to the position of a place in relation to the equator. The second point, known as the longitude, reflects which half of the globe a place is located in, whether that be the eastern hemisphere or the western hemisphere.

Benin’s latitude is 9.3077° N and the country’s longitude is 2.3158° E. The GPS coordinates of Benin show that the country is located in both the northern and the eastern hemisphere. The fact that Benin is in the northern hemisphere means that it is situated above the equator as well.
