Mega Millions States 2024

Many of us dream of a day where we don’t have to work. It’s the ultimate fantasy to have more money than you know what to do with, being able to purchase everything you’ve ever wanted without lifting a finger ever again. For people that win the lottery, this dream is actually a reality.

One of the most popular lotteries to play in the United States is Mega Millions. Mega Millions first made its appearance in the U.S. in 1996. At the time of its introduction, however, it was known as The Big Game. This was later changed to The Big Game Mega Millions before finally being called Mega Millions, which is the name of the game today.

As of June 2019, Mega Millions is available in 44 states. The game is also available in Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Mega Millions winning numbers are drawn twice per week. Every Tuesday and Friday, the drawings are held at WSB-TV studio in Atlanta, Georgia. The minimum jackpot for Mega Millions is $40 million, which is paid in installments over a period of 30 years. Winners can also take an immediate payout. However, the total amount received is less than taking installments.

To play Mega Millions, a person must be over the age of 18. Each game requires a ticket, which costs $2. In most states, a Megaplier option is available for an additional dollar. This adds a multiplier to non-jackpot prizes. Winners can pick their own numbers or can have random numbers selected by their chosen lottery retailer.

If there are no winners for one night’s drawing, the amount of the jackpot continues to climb until there is a winner. The largest jackpot in the history of the game was during the October 23, 2018 drawing. The $1.537 billion jackpot was claimed by one winner in South Carolina the following March.
