PA Schools by State 2024

PA Schools by State 2024

Physician’s assistants are what they sound like – assistant physicians. PAs can diagnose illness and prescribe medication. Physician assistants have many of the same responsibilities as doctors; however, they work under the supervision of a doctor or surgeon.

PA programs are highly competitive and require prerequisite college coursework that is similar to premedical studies. Individuals looking to become PAs are encouraged to look into potential programs during their freshman year of undergraduate to plan out which prerequisites they will take and to look into internships or jobs in the healthcare field to gain experience. To become a PA, they will complete an accredited. PA program, become certified, obtain a state license, and maintain their certification by completing 100 hours of continuing medical education credits every two years and taking a recertification exam every 10 years.
