Mobile is a city located in Alabama. With a 2020 population of 190,432, it is the 4th largest city in Alabama (after , , and ) and the 135th largest city in the United States. Mobile is currently growing at a rate of 0.91% annually but its population has decreased by -2.40% since the most recent census, which recorded a population of 195,111 in 2010. Mobile reached it's highest population of 200,452 in 1980. Spanning over 180 miles, Mobile has a population density of 1,365 people per square mile.

Mobile is located in Mobile County, where it serves as the county seat and is also the most populous city. When compared to the rest of the state, Mobile is the third most populous in Alabama.
The city is most known for being the only saltwater port in the state, and the Port of Mobile has contributed significantly to the city’s economy throughout its history. The city’s population at the time of the 2010 census was recorded as 195,111.
Since that last census was taken, estimates show that the population has dropped to 192,904. Median rent in the last five years has been approximately $800 per month.
Mobile’s population saw rapid growth throughout the 19th century and through the early half of the 20th century. In 1960, the population reached its peak of over 202,000 residents. This was more than double the number recorded at the time of the 1940 census. However, in 1970, the population dropped below 200,000. It rose again in 1980 before dropping again in 1990. Though 2000 saw some growth, it did not again surpass 200,000. Recent population estimates show that the population is down over 1% since the 2010 census. The city has recently attracted more businesses, including Carnival cruise line, the Airbus assembly line, and a Walmart distribution center, which city officials hope will lead to growth in both the economy and the population.
