One Wild West city that is frequently overlooked is called Deadwood, South Dakota. When people think about South Dakota, they usually think about Mount Rushmore. Even though that is certainly a major attraction in the state, tremendous riches were discovered in the famous Black Hills of South Dakota in 1874. That turned Deadwood, South Dakota into a city that was dominated by gunslingers, gamblers, and outlaws. Even people such as Wild Bill Hickok used to live in the region. Even though TV shows have been made about it, a lot of people still forget to come and visit Deadwood to learn more about what the wild west was like many years ago.
Ultimately, the wild west is still different when compared to the rest of the country. The culture is different in this part of the country, and people tend to have slightly different attitudes. On the other hand, it is not nearly as wild as it was many years ago. Because the Western regions of the United States have been more developed, even small towns are still controlled by the rule of law. There are still opportunities for people to explore what the Wild West was like, and much of it is limited to old buildings and museums.
