The population of Port Macquarie was 45,698 according to data compiled in 2016. This reflects a slight growth from the 45,341 residents recorded in 2015. The population between 2014 and 2015 was up 1.1% and reflected significant growth from the 39,783 reported in the previous decade.
Because of its beautiful coasts and many landmarks, Port Macquarie is a popular tourist destination. Additionally, the koala breeding center and Billabong Zoo offers interesting and educational experiences - including petting and holding a variety of exotic animals.
