Current sources lack any comprehensive study comparing the average vagina size of women in each country.
While existing research on the topic of vaginal size is somewhat sparse, a few facts are known:
- The vagina is quite elastic and able to expand when necessary, such as during sexual arousal and particularly during childbirth.
- A 1996 study determined that the average vagina was 2.7 to 5.8 inches (6.9 to 14.8 cm) long and 1.9 to 2.5 inches (4.8 to 6.3 cm) wide. Additional studies from 1966 and 2006 have measured slightly lower averages.
- Vaginal size varies from one individual to another. The 2006 study noted that the longest vagina measured (3.74 in/95.0 mm) was more than 100% the length of the shortest vagins measured (1.61 in/40.8 mm).
- Despite such variances, experts believe that as a result of the vagina’s elasticity, its baseline size has no impact on sexual enjoyment in the vast majority of cases.
