Badoo is a social discovery and dating platform that was created in 2006 by Andrey Andreev. Now a part of the Bumble family, Badoo has gone on to amass over 400 million members from countries all over the world.
Badoo markets itself as a gateway to making real connections by being yourself. Unlike many competing dating apps, Badoo works by connecting members to people in their areas based on more than just appearance. It also takes things like interests and personality traits into account when making suggestions.
Additionally, Badoo isn’t necessarily exclusively for dating. The app can also be used to meet new friends nearby or connect with others who share similar interests.
Badoo operates on a straightforward swiping system, much like competing apps such as Tinder. It also offers features such as video chat, profile verification, and automatic blurring of inappropriate photos.
Badoo has become particularly popular in France, the United States, and several major Latin American countries. Badoo is the most popular in France, where 4.5 million users generate the majority (over 7%) of the app’s monthly traffic, as of 2024 data.
The United States came in a close second, with 4.3 million users who account for 6.71% of Badoo’s traffic. Brazil is third, also with roughly 4.3 million users who generate 6.63% of the app’s monthly traffic.
Among European countries, Badoo has proven particularly popular in Spain, which is home to 3.1 million users or 4.8% of Badoo’s monthly traffic, as well as Italy with 2.8 million users comprising 4.26% of Badoo’s monthly traffic.
A recent study on Statista revealed that in early 2024, Badoo enjoyed about 1.3 million downloads in North America and Latin America alone. It was also downloaded 580,000 times in the Asia Pacific region and 790,000 times in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
Anyone interested in trying out Badoo for themselves can download the app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
