Even though it is not necessarily required for someone to climb the mountain with a sherpa, it is highly recommended. A sherpa is someone who understands the various pads that are available, and they can provide tips, help avoid specific obstacles, and keep people safe. Even though it can be expensive to hire a local sherpa, it is an important safety measure. A sherpa can also make sure that everyone in the party has access to the equipment they need to climb the rocks and cliffs safely.
