  • For example, Italy’s displayed 2022-23 value of 486 indicates usage of 486,000 tonnes, or approximately 535,723 tons.
  • In addition to the listed countries, other non-producing countries experienced a significant decline in consumption, dropping from 155 tonnes in 2021-22 to 120 in 2022-23 (-22.6%), yet still accounting for 3.9% of global consumption. Similarly, Non-IOC (International Olive Council) countries saw a decrease from 28 tonnes to 24 during the same period (-14%), contributing 0.8% to global consumption.
  • In contrast, the rest of the EU witnessed a slight increase in consumption, rising to 119 in 2022-23 (+3.1%), while maintaining a 3.9% share of global consumption
