  • The United Kingdom’s Great Britian men’s national team was formed by merging the teams of England, Scotland and Wales in 2006. None had won a medal previously.
  • Similarly, the national teams of East Germany and West Germany competed separately until the 1993 Eurobasket (which the unified German team won), but had won only one medal (a women’s bronze for West Germany) while divided.
  • Countries that won medals in the past, but no longer play for the Eurobasket include Czechoslovakia, Egypt, Serbia and Montenegro, the Soviet Union/USSR, and Yugoslavia. Their data are displayed separately.
  • Like many large-scale sporting events, Eurobasket employs preliminary qualifying rounds that participants must survive in order to compete in the main tournament. The number of times each country’s team completed these rounds and reached the main tournament is displayed in the “Times Qualified” column. The number of times each country’s team entered the qualifying rounds but failed to advance are not shown.
