Arkansas

The richest family in America has their home state in Arkansas. The Walton family is well known throughout the world as one of the leading retail brands: Walmart. Due to recent circumstances, they are in contention with the Bezos family for being the richest family in America, but the Waltons are the longest-running family and have topped the leaderboards for decades. What started as a small store in Arkansas has become a retail giant that is present in numerous locations, with franchises all over the world - mainly in North America.

In 1987, Sam Walton created a charitable foundation called the Walton Family Foundation. It is focused on charter schools, but after its inception encompassed more issues in its program, particularly around the environment and water sanitation standards. In 2016, most recently, Alice and Jim Walton placed a $250 million grant toward the building of charter school facilities. The Foundation has created an initiative that provides the charter schools with better access to capital which creates and expands their facilities.

Texas

The family of Elon Musk is the second richest family in the United States. Musk, who owns Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter, is worth an estimated $128 billion. Musk’s net worth was once around $180 billion, but his acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion caused a decline. Musk has nine children between the ages of two and twenty-one with whom he can share his enormous fortune.

Washington

The Bezos family is one such similar success, albeit a longer road. While there are families with multiple members, the Bezos family's wealth's lion's share is Jeff Bezos himself. Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon, which has become the largest global online retailer in the world. Since then, Amazon has grown to be part of many different types of vertical channels, which include cloud services, participation in the gig economy, and providing entrepreneurial tools. Amazon has come a long way from its humble beginnings of being an online book delivery store.
