Seychelles is Africa’s smallest country by both land area and population, covering just 452 km² (174.5 sq mi) and home to about 133,000 people.
São Tomé and Príncipe ranks second on both measures, with a land area of 964 km² (372.2 sq mi) and a population of roughly 240,000.
Comoros ranks third by land area at about 1,900 km² (733 sq mi), while Cape Verde is the third-smallest by population with approximately 527,000 residents.
