Rhode Island has the highest percentage of Portuguese residents per state, with 7.6% of the population being of Portuguese descent, followed by Massachusetts with 3.9%. Hawaii ranks third, with 3.5% of its population identifying as Portuguese. Other states with notable percentages of Portuguese residents include New Hampshire (1.4%), Connecticut (1.3%), and New Jersey (0.9%). On the other hand, Mississippi has the lowest percentage of Portuguese residents at just 0.04%.

In terms of total numbers, California has the largest Portuguese population with 327,558 residents of Portuguese descent, followed by Massachusetts with 270,183.
