Every state has its own chains, and you probably have a lot of familiarity with the grocery stores in your area. There are not a lot of grocery stores that have a national presence, such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. Generally, grocery stores operate regionally, and that is exactly what Publix does. Publix is a grocery store, and it is one of the most popular chains in the country. At the same time, it is not found everywhere, and there are some locations that have more Publix than others. If you happen to come across a Publix, you may want to step inside to see what they have to offer.
Publix is a grocery store chain that is popular in the Southeast. Therefore, the states that have the most Publix are located in the Southeast as well. Without a doubt, the state that has the most Publix locations is Florida. Florida is estimated to have about 858 Publix locations scattered throughout the peninsula. If you spend an extended amount of time in the Sunshine State, there is a good chance that you will see a Publix somewhere. Just north of Florida, Georgia has a lot of Publix as well. It is estimated that Georgia has close to 210 Publix locations, so if you spend time in the Peach State, you will probably see a Publix.
Six other states have Publix as well. South Carolina has more Publix than North Carolina, as South Carolina has 69 branches, and North Carolina has 54. If you head west to Tennessee, you will also find 58 Publix there. Publix also has a very strong presence in Alabama, where there are 88 locations. Finally, there are about 20 Publix stores in Virginia as well. Kentucky has the fewest locations, with just one store in the state.
Because of its popularity, there are a lot of people who are eager to see this grocery store chain extend elsewhere. Even though Publix is doing well, it remains to be seen if it wants to expand either north or west in the future.
