Scandinavian Americans are most concentrated in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions of the United States. Minnesota has the highest number of people with Scandinavian ancestry, with 101,625 individuals, representing 1.78% of the state's population. North Dakota follows with 12,246 individuals or 1.57%, while Utah comes in third with 51,721 individuals or 1.51%. Other states with a relatively high percentage of Scandinavian ancestry include Montana (1.14%), Wyoming (1.02%), and South Dakota (0.99%).

Outside the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions, Washington State has the highest number of Scandinavian Americans, with 74,344 individuals or 0.95% of the state's population. California has the highest total number of Scandinavian Americans, with 98,837 individuals, but they only represent 0.25% of the state's population. In the Northeast, Maine has the highest percentage of Scandinavian Americans at 0.41%. Overall, the percentage of the US population with Scandinavian ancestry ranges from 0.08% in Mississippi to 1.78% in Minnesota.
