  • Voter Population includes US citizens who are of voting age (18 years of age or older). This population may include individuals who are ineligible to vote for reasons other than lack of citizenship or who are under 18 years of age.
  • Although the federal voting age is 18, 20 states and the District of Columbia allow those who are 17, but will be 18 by the general election, to vote in primaries. An additional four states (Alaska, Hawaii, North Dakota, and Wyoming) allow such voters to cast ballots in Democratic presidential primaries, but not Republican primaries.
  • Under-18 voters are not included in displayed Voter Populaition data and estimates.
