Most Conservative Cities 2024

Conservative politics aim for a smaller, deregulated government and desire to preserve the political philosophy and regulations articulated in the Constitution. The United States Republican Party is the country’s major conservative party.

Conservative politics also aim to preserve traditional morality, as articulated in the Bible, and have a strong aversion to rapid change. This is in strong contrast to liberal politics, which focus heavily on social justice and equality and regulating economic activity.

Some of the most conservative states are Mississippi, Wyoming, Alabama, and West Virginia.

Research from “Representation in Municipal Government” shows that big cities tend to be more liberal, including those in conservative, or red, states. Conservative cities tend to spend less than half per capita than liberal cities and collect fewer taxes.
