Guava Production by Country 2026

Guava, renowned for its distinctive flavor and nutritional composition, has become a sought-after commodity in the global fruit trade. With a delicious taste and host of health benefits, it’s emerged as an attractive prospect for farmers.

Accordingly, the worldwide demand for guava and similar fruits has grown steadily in the past few years leading up to 2023. Guavas, along with mangoes and other tropical fruits, are rich in vitamin C, antioxidants, and fiber, making them a great addition to diet, skincare, and the overall wellness package. Likely due to their shared properties, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) combines guava with mangoes and other mangosteen fruits when reporting on global trade statistics.

Several countries, including India, Mexico, Brazil, Thailand, and Indonesia, emerge prominently in this domain. However, India stands out as the leading producer of guava, mangoes, and mangosteen fruits, making a substantial contribution to global production. This data accentuates the significance of these fruits in the agricultural sector and their pivotal role in meeting the worldwide demand.

Per data from the FAO, the following figures signify the top five global producers of guava, mangoes, and other mangosteen fruits across various countries in 2023 (rounded to the nearest whole ton):

India: Coming in at number one, India is the foremost producer of guava, mangoes, and mangosteen fruits, with an annual production of approximately 24,968,000 metric tons.

China: Ranking second in guava production, China has an annual output of around 3,790,000 metric tons of guava

Indonesia: With the bronze medal just behind China, Indonesia records approximately 3,561,867 metric tons of guava production in 2023.

Pakistan: A substantial contributor, Pakistan approximates an annual output of 2,677,017 metric tons

Mexico: Rounding out our global top five, Mexico is the leading producer in the Americas, with an annual production of about 2,441,496 metric tons.

As shown above, the guava trade contributes significantly to the economies of multiple nations worldwide. Not only does it provide employment opportunities in both cultivation and processing, but the export of guava products also generates foreign exchange earnings, boosting the global economic standing of each nation on this list. Overall, this data underscores the importance of these fruits in the market today, and their global value to healthcare and the agricultural sector only seems to be growing.
