Where Is Fujian Located?

Fujian is a province located in the southeastern portions of China. It is a province on the southeastern coast of the country. It shares a border with the Taiwan Strait to the east, Guangzhou to the south, Jiangshi to the west, and Zhejiang to the north. The province is one of the most diverse in all of China. A significant number of Min Chinese live in the area, and the Hokkien dialect is commonly spoken in the area as well. The majority of the people who live in the province are of Han Chinese descent, but there are lots of other cultures that live in the area as well. Mandarin Chinese is the most commonly spoken language in the area.

How Many People Live in Fujian Province?

There are approximately 41 million people who live in the province, and it is one of the larger provinces in China itself. It is also one of the most economically productive regions in all of China. There are a number of reasons why so many people speak Min Chinese in Fujian, but the biggest reason is that there is a significant amount of emigration to the province that has taken place over the decades. Emigration to the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan has been relatively consistent since the end of the Chinese Civil War.

Why Is the Economy of Fujian So Strong?

Even though Fujian is the 15th-largest province in China in terms of population, it is still one of the economic bastions of the country. That is because the province is very close to Taiwan. Taiwan is just a few miles away from Fujian on the Taiwan Strait, and there is a significant amount of commerce that takes place between the two areas. In particular, Taiwan is known for its incredibly strong semiconductor industry, and China relies heavily on semiconductors to survive. In addition, because Taiwan is a relatively small island, it relies on China for a significant amount of its goods. Therefore, there are a lot of exceptional jobs located in Fujian, and trade is a major driving factor of economic growth in the area.

How Easy Is It To Get Around Fujian?

Public transportation throughout the province has only developed recently. There are a lot of mountains in the area, which made it very difficult to build roads and railroads. For example, the very first railroad connecting Fujian to its neighboring provinces was not finished until 1959, with several others being completed by 2009. Now, there are four very large rail lines that connect Fujian to the other provinces. Prior to the arrival of roads and railroads, most people got around using boats. Now, there are several major airports located in the province as well. These airports include Fuzhou Changle International Airport, Quanzhou Jinjiang International Airport, Nanping Wuyishan Airport, Longyan Guanzhishan Airport, Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, and Sanming Shaxian Airport. There are millions of people who fly through these airports every year.
