The United States Postal Service or USPS is the most famous mail delivery service in the world. The USPS eligible countries or countries that are eligible to receive mail through this service include almost every country on Earth. There are 193 United Nations member countries in the world, and the USPS will deliver mail to more than 180 of those countries, with some exceptions.

The most disruptive exceptions for USPS have been during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. At one point, the USPS was forced to suspend its international mail to 22 countries including:

As of April 2022, there are still many countries on the list of countries USPS has suspended mail to as a result of Covid-19. The USPS will also suspend mail delivery to countries for other reasons, such as when a country is under sanctions or during times of war.

The countries temporarily suspended from receiving USPS mail delivery due to the pandemic are as follows:

Priority Mail Express International Suspensions

As of October 25, 2021, airline disruptions had forced temporary suspensions of Priority Mail Express International, or at least the guaranteed delivery. The countries impacted by this included:

War Suspensions for USPS Mail Delivery

In addition to temporary Covid-19 delivery suspensions, the USPS will temporarily suspend mail deliveries to international destinations that are directly connected to war.

As of March 8, 2022, the following countries were suspended from Global Express Guaranteed Mail Service as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine:

  • Listed suspensions current as of September 2023. Suspensions may begin or end without notice.
  • In addition to the listed service suspensions, mail delivery may be disrupted on a shorter-term basis due to events such as disease outbreaks, floods, wildfires, or other natural disasters.
