It is estimated that there are over 2 billion users of Instagram as of 2022 and that it is the leading photo-sharing application in the world. Approximately 300 million Instagram users are said to be famous, or influencers in the world of social media. Most of the users on social media are general readers or social media visitors, and the audience that can be reached by commercial advertising is approximately 15 percent, with females being more likely to purchase something on Instagram than males.
India ranks first consistently in Instagram users by country rankings with over 230 million people on Instagram. The United States holds the number two spot as the country with the most Instagram users, with approximately one-half of the United States population on Instagram. Brazil is reported to have 119 million users on Instagram, and Indonesia has almost 100 million. Russia also has a high Instagram user population with approximately 63 million Russians on Instagram. Turkey ranks high as well, with over 52 million accounts using Instagram.

Countries with the Most New Instagram Users
India is reported as the country with the newest users on Instagram, while the United States remains consistent. The United States does have a lot of accounts on Instagram, although many users will have multiple Instagram accounts in the United States. India gained approximately 20 million new users during the lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is estimated that there are more females than males on Instagram, with over 51 percent of Instagram being female or reporting as female. Approximately 48.4 percent of Instagram users are male, and there is not a lot of gender disparity on the social media application.
The largest demographic in age on Instagram are millennials or those in the 25 to 34 years age group. Approximately 31.2 percent of Instagram users are in this age group, or report as being in this age group.
The second most popular age group on Instagram is the age group of 18 to 24. The age group with the least amount of users on Instagram is the 65 and over group, with approximately 2.2 percent on Instagram. In addition to Instagram users by country, there are still approximately 170 million downloads annually of the social media application every year.
