Wyoming Cities by Population (2024)

Despite being the 9th largest by area, Wyoming has a population of just 589,713 inhabitants, making it the least populous city in the U.S., even falling behind Washington D.C. The most populous city is the capital city of Cheyenne, which has a population estimated to be over 63,000 as of 2017. There are nine other cities in the state that have populations exceeding 10,000, including Casper, Gillette, Laramie and Rock Springs.

There are 99 incorporated municipalities in the state, classified into cities and towns. These are spread across 23 counties. The smallest city in the state is Kemmerer, which is located in Lincoln County and has a population of just over 2,600. The incorporated cities and towns account for only 0.3% of the state’s area but almost 70% of the population resides within these areas.
