The highest voltage by country is usually 240 Volts for a single household and most commercial properties. The three-phase voltage is 480 Volts and is often used in manufacturing environments.
Australia offers one of the highest voltages for residential power found around the world. AU runs on 50-Hz frequency and uses the “I” plug, and it follows the AS/NZS 3112 national plug standard.
The United States uses the 110-120V and 240V versions of all its plugs on a 60Hz frequency. Oftentimes, people call the home outlets 120 Volts, but many of them may only run using 110 Volts. The 110-Volt power also is associated with travel power, such as the type used for some car battery booster-chargers.
The United States uses the “A” and “B” plugs. The U.S. also has the “NEMA 14-30” and “NEMA-14-50” plugs, which also operate according to their own national plug standards. Other national plug standards used here include the “NEMA 1-15” and the “NEMA 5-15.”
Most residential voltages are either 110-120 Volts or are 240 volts. However, you’ll find 115, 127 and 220, or 230 Voltages and some others not used as often.
480 Volts on the 60 Hz frequency is the highest three-phase industrial voltage. Puerto Rico, the U.S. Ecuador, Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Honduras have them. Colombia, Canada and the Dominican Republic also have them. They typically run on between 50-60Hz.
Other voltage sizes for the three-phase power include 380, 400, 415 and 440. Several also range in the 200s, such as the 208-, 220-, 230- or 240-Volt ones.
